  • Rant.

Pardon me while I get this off my chest.

Don't we have enough Walgreens, Rite Aids, CVS... etc. already? Does every free corner left in peopledom need to be filled with a chain drugstore?

These stores - which I do admittedly visit on occasion - to have prescriptions filled - drive me bonkers. They are generally messy, poorly staffed, and filled with either way overpriced crap of extremely poor quality or way overpriced goods you could (and should) be purchasing at your local grocery store. Either way, it's a total ripoff for the consumer. And furthermore, how is it they can get away with calling themselves "drugstores" anyway when 75% of the stuff on their shelves bears no resemblance whatsoever to a drug?

So yeah, if you're out there, whoever you are - will you stop building more of your stores on every available street corner already? I think the general population has sufficient access to getting their prescriptions filled.

And while you're at it, how about asking Trader Joe's if they'd like to put a store in Grand Rapids, Michigan instead?

Not to mention all the ads on TV listing drugs and all their side effects.

We've had two new drugstores pop up within a mile from us in the past year--a RiteAid and a Walgreens.  We already have locally owned pharmacies here, but I guess to the chains those don't count.

Do you have a Whole Foods in Grand Rapids?  Here in Ann Arbor, we've got a nice Whole Foods.  When they moved to their new, larger location, a Trader Joe's moved in to their old one.  But I don't get what all the craze is about Trader Joe's.  It's a tiny store with a limited selection and other than the frozen foods, nothing I can't get at Whole Foods.
Whole Foods is now working on a second location in Ann Arbor, where the old Mervyn's store was.
Wait...Whole Foods and Trader Joe's...THEY'RE CHAIN STORES!!!!

Next door to where I work they're putting in a new CVS. Adjacent to that is a new old folks' home. Sweeeet. I'm waiting for them to put in a cemetery on the other side.

Across from the new CVS is a Wallgreens. I go there because they regularly have the sunglasses that clip onto my frames in my frame size and style (48 rectangular) whereas other stores are hit-and-miss. This works out well for me because I regularly lose or break the ones I had previously bought.

I think the last time I was there, there was a customer buying cigarettes. Is that right? Are they allowed to sell cigarettes at drug stores?

    Hello Ms. Jennifer,
Your site is so simple yet elegant but I see that you don’t write here much anymore!
I want to help people to really get to know what Jehovah God’s plans are for us, especially in these troubled times: 17You make God tired with all your talk. "How do we tire him out?" you ask. By saying, "God loves sinners and sin alike. God loves all." And also by saying, "Judgment? God's too nice to judge." (Malachi 2:17) (Message Bible)
